Vicki is the youngest member of our design team and resident baker extraordinaire. Having started at OEG straight out of university, she has flourished in all aspects of interior design.
How did you get into interior design?
From an early age I was inspired and fascinated by the world of interior design. With a gift for mixing colours and patterns and with an obsession for shifting furniture around, I soon realised that a career in design was inevitable.
What’s your design style?
I bring an eclectic eye to each of my designs, combining a mix of colours and patterns. By mixing touches of different styles, my designs are always interesting and balanced.
What do you like about working at OEG?
What I like about my job, next to its need for team spirit and close collaboration with people, is the creative freedom. I like to brainstorm and push the boundaries of my concepts. My job can be very challenging at times, but it pushes me and my capabilities to my full potential.
What aspect of office design is often overlooked by clients but should be given more thought?
The physical and mental health of their employees. Have the employees been included in the process? Have their thoughts been taken into account? Most employees feel like they aren’t valued by their company. In our consultative process we work with companies to find out who they are and how they really work.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve worked on in the last year?
Winning my first ever design project, 3 weeks after graduating. Seeing it from initial proposed space plans to final completion, that excitement when it starts to come to life. (See the case study here)
What would we find you doing outside of work?
I play a multitude of sports, including hockey and netball but always start my day off with a morning run to get me ready for the day ahead. I also enjoy picking up my flute and playing the piano when I get a spare moment. But most importantly sitting on the sofa and getting into a good film.
